Foster a Dog

Give a Dog a Temporary Home and a Forever Chance

OPEN YOUR HEART

Foster a Dog in Need

Fostering is a powerful way to help transform the lives of dogs who have endured neglect, abuse, or isolation. By opening your home, you offer these dogs a safe place to heal, grow, and prepare for adoption. Fosters play an essential role in their journey toward trust and happiness—providing the stability, love, and guidance that helps each dog become ready for a forever home.

You provide a safe and loving home.

We provide EVERYTHING else!

Foster families are the most important resource for our rescue. To become a foster parent, please complete the Foster Application.

Can't Foster Full-time?
Be a Couch Crasher!

Our foster homes sometimes need a break from fostering on a short term basis due to vacations or other commitments. We have developed a program that gives our full time foster homes a break while a temporary foster home can enjoy the company of a dog, play and snuggle, and help socialize the dog with new people and surroundings without the long term commitment of being a full time foster family!

There is no cost involved and we provide everything needed! We will also match the right dog for your family and activity level!

To become a "Couch Crashers" Foster home, please complete our Couch Crasher's Application.

What do our Fosters have to say?

Testominials

Our family fosters dogs because there is a huge need. Thousands of dogs are abused and neglected, and UMDR is working to protect them. They rescue chained, neglected and abused dogs and give them a second chance to live a good life. After fostering for a year, we have been blessed to see many dogs find the loving family they deserv. It is so rewarding to be a part of making the world a better place, and we are so thankful for the work that UMDR allows us to do.

I foster because it allows more dogs to be saved, I love to watch each foster's personality unfold over a few days to weeks. They go from a nervous pup to a funny, confident, loving, and smart pup - and knowing that I made that possible is the best reward ever. It's also great socialization for my own pups.

I have been a dog lover my entire life. It is so satisfying helping sweet rescue dogs get a new home. As many times as I've cried over missing a foster dog, the joy of knowing that you helped a family find the new love of their life makes it all worth it!
